Check Out Suikoden IV for $19.99

Suikoden IV Review

This game, unlike Suikoden 2 and 3 is the best addition to the 1st Suikoden! The PS2 graphics add to the fun, and there’s alot of great gameplay to be had! It takes a little practice getting used to maneuvering the boat, and the music while guiding the boat is a little off, but finding out what characters go with others to make special moves is half the fun. There’s alot of untold stories and twists and turns which make this a great game to replay. Once more, after you beat the game, you get access to the full ocean map and the armor which was not equipped on any characters after you beat the game. Just make sure to upgrade your weapons whenever you can, and trade by buying low and selling high. A definite ‘must have’ for RPG players!

Suikoden IV Feature

  • Explore a vast ocean environment by ship, in a beautifully detailed 3D game world
  • Multiple battles with different tactics – Dynamic sea-based strategy battles, one-on-one combat and four-person team fights
  • Discover the 108 Stars of Destiny on your adventure

Suikoden IV Overview

Suikoden IV brings the popular role-playing adventure back to complete the story of the first games. This game begins 150 years prior to the original Suikoden, with a young knight in service to the Gaien navy. When he comes into contact with the cursed Rune of Punishment, he’s banished from his country — and his adventure begins.

Horrible… – Donald – NY
I loved the Suikoden series, but for some reason, Konami felt they needed to change the formula after Suikoden 2. The result ended up producing a mediocre Suikoden 3 and a terrible Suikoden 4. This game is completely uninteresting. I could not even get all the way through it because of a storyline that called for meandering on a boat in the middle of the ocean for several hours of gameplay. Save your money when it comes to this one. Konami has produced much better.

The worst in series by far – Michael Jones – Richmond,Va
Whenever you have a series of games, you often run into a clunker somewhere along the line. For the Suikoden series, the 4th installment more than fits that description.

In the other Suikoden games(1,2,3,5) the plot, in depth characters, and sheer enjoyment of finding the 108 stars of destiny are extremely well done. Not only does this game fail miserably in those aspects, but just moving around the world is a tedious act.

Since the game takes place in the island nations, you spend much of your time sailing around in your ship. Unfortunately the random battles in this game are also very high. I have nothing against random battles, and often enjoy them. However, a battle every couple seconds while moving around the world map is a bit extreme.

This game is extremely short,(actually a blessing) which is probably why you have random encounters every 3 seconds, otherwise this no plot game would last 10 hours. The only positives I can say for the game are the very nice looking graphics, perhaps the best in the series. However, I would gladly trade the graphics for a much better plot and character development.

Fortunately, Suikoden got back on track with the 5th installment. I can only recommend this game for those of you who must have every game in the series.

Great game, a little different – Michael N. Lam –
This is a great game, but it does go a bit left for some who are used to strategy games. If you don’t like battles at sea, stay away. If you are open minded, get this game.

Great Price Kush Games for $4.80

ESPN NHL Hockey Review

this game is very fun 2 play.out of all the hockey games from this year, this game is the most realistic. if u wanna hang around and play a good video game, this is the game 4 u.but if u want a style like as u c on tv, not one u can have as much fun with , dont get this game.

the good – the gameplay is very fun and exciting. u can also unlock teams from the past and their jerseys. u also have a house, and as u play more u unlock more games and trophies which can be very fun. the commentators r usually good, 2. also, they have a mode where u do the super skills competition, as they do on all-star saturday. plus, the players look realisitic

the bad – the comentaters can be good usually, but they repeat phrases 2 many times. also, u rarely get a shot off with ur defensman at the point. plus, wen u score , it is usually in the same way. they players look odd wen u skate with them, as if they were sticks. also, wen u turn, they dont curve they just switch directions immediatly, which looks very odd. also, this game has the worst fighting EVER. its not a fight. its just 2 people standing next 2 each other looking like they are trying 2 grab the air, and missing.it is the funnest game 2 fight in, but the fighting in nhl 2004 actually looks like a real fight. i was amazed at how bad this fighting was after just playing nhl 2004. its HORRIBLE.

i gave this game 4 stars because of the gameplay, but not 5 because the realism in some parts is terrible. if ur a hard core hockey fan, get nhl 2004. if ur a person looking 4 a fun hockey game 2 play, then get this.

Wow! – N. Shah –
Ever since Super Nintendo’s EA Sports NHL ‘94 game, I have never found a hockey game that quite cuts it. From bad goalies that are too predictable and make bonehead decisions to physics that are completely unrealistic, I’ve seen it all, most notably in EA Sports’ follow-up for the PC (NHL 2003, etc.).

Then rolled ESPN’s NHL Hockey down the alley of incomplete hockey games like a grenade! It does almost everything perfectly. Most notably, the goalies are realistic, the gameplay is intense, and the graphics are smooth. Amazing indeed.

N.

Greatest Hockey Game Ever – David – New York
The person below who gave the game a 2 out of 5 Star rating is an idiot. Mike Buck, let me tell you personally that you are by far the biggest moron to write a review. “If you want Realistic than choose NHL 2004 over ESPN.” Are you stupid or are you always like that. EA Sports NHL 2004 is an arcadey game of all sorts. And the reason the game is too hard for you is because your an idiot who prefers 15 – 7 game scores. EA’s announcers are pathetic, the graphics shine, has poor shadow effects, and very little replay value among other things. ESPN NHL Hockey is the greatest hockey game you can buy. It has a skills competition, a mini rink, unlockable classing teams, like the 1982 Islanders or the 1992 Penguins, and more. It has cut scenes, player infos and everything. I recommend this game if your a hockey fan. But if you enjoy games that take an idiot to play and master than I suggest EA Sport’s NHL 2004, the dumbest game on earth.

Oh, and if anyone doubts me, go to IGN.com or Gamespot.com or any other major website that reviews games. They’ll agree that ESPN is way better than EA Sports.

ESPN/Sega Hockey: Not This Season – M. Buck – Brooklyn, N.Y. United States
Sega’s ESPN NHL Hockey (2K4) isn’t the great hockey game that it was last year. Where it has some good options and unlockables (great teams from the past), the gameplay really hurts one’s ability to fully enjoy the game.

Graphically, the game looks a tad bit better than EA’s NHL 2004. The sounds in the game aren’t that great as well as the horrible crowd chants and rink announcer. The only good sounds comes from the play-by-play/color commentating by Gary Thorne and Bill Clement–which is the best I have ever heard (they could mention the “shoulder” a bit less, though).

The gameplay is where this game falls behind EA’s NHL 2004. The animation is smooth, but very slow. Trying to perform a hook, poke check, block shot, etc. are animated so slow, that by the time the move is done–it’s too late. Minor things like fighting and watching the player skate around can look really bad and silly. Other than that, the action is fierce and quick–which can be good and bad.

Where this game has an advantage over EA’s NHL 2004 is in it’s roster updates via online. EA’s NHL 2004 updates have trades, but never includes rookies or call-ups (I play as the New York Rangers and they have a rookie, Jed Ortmeyer, who has been with the team pretty much the entire season, and isn’t on any EA updates. Granted, he isn’t an impact player, but that is just an example of how poorly EA’s roster updates are). Sega’s ESPN Hockey updates are true to the game. Every player that has played on an NHL team this season, is in the roster updates–from one game call-ups, to rookie skaters.

So, if you want a hockey game to hold you over until the next hockey season or until the World Cup of Hockey this summer, I would recommend EA’s NHL 2004 over Sega’s ESPN NHL 2K4 Hockey if you want a more realistic game of hockey.

Great!!! – David Shackelford – Morristown, TN United States
This is a great SIMULATION hockey game. If you want to knock people down and fight try NHL Hitz which is also great. NHL 2004 is also a good game but 2003’s stupid comments during gameplay really nailed the coffin shut on that series for me. ESPN NHL Hockey is my game. It is a true to life thing. You can send players to the minors and change your line-ups, trade players, change your defensive and offensive strategy’s during the game. It’s a awesome SIMULATION I cant stress that enough. Pick this game up if you get the chance. GO NASHVILLE PREDATORS!

Customer Reviews

Don’t order from Scamazon – Robert H. Mccauley –
I’ll be amazed if this review gets posted. We ordered it in August 2006. Two months later, we’re still waiting for it to arrive. We chose standard shipping…which must mean a slow boat from China. Every few weeks we get an email pushing back the shipping date. Why would overnight shipping be offered on a product they can’t get their hands on for two months not two days? Check the website, they’ll still offering expedited shipping, yet no product for two months. A nice fellow on the customer service website placed the blame on Activision. Funny, Walmart and Toys R Us have no problem getting it in stock. I would have given this game the goose egg in terms of starts but the system would not let me, so we give one star as a lifetime achievement award.

Avoid Tony Hawk’s Glitch City like the plague – Jannie Pie – United States
I have Tony Hawk 4, THUG, THUG 2 and this game. I loved the previous 3 games and bought them immediately. But this one, wow. Tony Hawk should be embarassed that his name is on a product that was rushed into production with TONS of glitches. The irony of that is that the game features a skateboard gang that is quote unquote anti-corporate. Whatever. If Tony was less concerned with being on MTV Cribs and more concerned with endorsing a useable product, perhaps the game would be more playable. As it stands, I run through walls, get stuck in ramps up to my waist, my skateboard and the bottom half of my legs disappear into areas of sidewalk, ala GTA Vice City (bad enough when you’re walking- disastrous when you’re doing a combo line!). There are missions where the AI wants me to do a series of requested flips as it calls them out, yet it doesn’t acknowledge that I am doing them and landing them perfectly. The list goes on and on.
I wrote to Activision and told them that since I’d opened the game, the store where I purchased it wouldn’t give me my money back. They would only exchange it for another copy, and what good would that do? I have not heard a word from Activison in response, but I’m not surprised. If they intended to stand behind this item, they would have fixed it before they put it on the market.
I’m out . Don’t make the same mistake.
Don’t take my word for it. Just Google the game title and read what they’re saying at the gaming message boards.

What a let-down… – zacharyzachary – Las Vegas
I write this review as a long-time fan of the Tony Hawk series. Except for the very first game, I’ve bought all on their initial days of release.

THAW follows the same pattern of the THUG games, in that the main feature is the story mode, which — although a natural pregression for the series — ultimately comes off as kind of lame. On “sick” mode it is fairly challenging, but on “normal” mode it is far too easy. This could be made up by a compelling storyline, but the story is lengthy and boring, and it doesn’t leave enough freedom in overall gameplay.

The Classic mode is a joke. The only difference between the two difficulties is the total amount of points needed to open new levels. I got through the “sick” mode in two very non-continuous days, and the easier mode in one sitting. It is obvious that this mode was put together very quickly, and with very little thought involved.

The “Collector’s Edition” contains a couple of extra Classic Mode levels, which is nice, and two extra available skaters, which is inconsequential. “Secret” characters were fun back when they had crazy special moves, but now there are about 20 unlockable skaters, and they don’t have exclusive moves. Being able to skate as “Dogtown Guy #2″ doesn’t really do it for me.

If you’ve become bored with the last couple of titles in this series, you might not want to pay for this one. Honestly, you could rent this for 5 bucks and effectively finish everything in the game during the duration of the rental period. Either that or you could ask your parents to give you this for Christmas. Trust me, wating a couple months won’t kill you, and it would be better to have them pay for it.

Check Out Tony Hawk’s Downhill Jam for $7.59

Tony Hawk’s Downhill Jam Review

If the primary reason you purchase Tony Hawk’s games are for the graphical resolution, you may be dissappointed. I was a big fan of the Downhill Jam level on the original Pro Skater, and have been looking for something similar for a long time. This was it. I could not put down the controller. Not having the impossible task lisk of stunts was a refreshing break from the norm and allowed me to enjoy the game for what it is. A fun and strangely addictive diversion. You can either try to expediate your way through the levels, of which there are 10 with between 6 to 10 courses for each level, or you can focus on one course and try to perfect it. Some of the courses were mind bogglingly simple, where as others took some skill and course knowledge in order for you to excel. There are about 8 different venues. Each venue is broken down into 3 courses, which as you advance through the game are combined to make grander courses, with the apex being the “Top to Bottom” runs. Through each venues you will be tasked to “Race” vs. 4 other computer skaters, “Slalom” through the course hitting gates to increase your time, “Trick” your way to the highest score (including slow motion gates to allow to pull off impossible combos mid-air), and some “Special” courses. The “Specials” include gathering up coins (feeling a little Mario Bros.), beating down on pedestrians (which can feel very pedestrian, unless you need to vent some real-life frustrations in a constructive way), and elimination events, during which the time clock is divided up and the person in last at those times is eliminated. To top it off, there is the multi-player option to allow you to go hth vs. friends and family for hours of entertainment. While Downhill Jam was’t the next evolution of the Tony Hawk series, it was well worth the price for the entertainment it has given me and it will give me matching off against my nephews.

Really a lot of fun!! – Book lover – Arizona
Fantastic fun to play. The graphics are great. You will want to play it again and again.

Tony goes downhill alright… – N. Durham – Philadelphia, PA
In time for the holidays (and the debut of Nintendo’s Wii), Activision released Tony Hawk’s Downhill Jam for the new system to take advantage of it’s innovative control capabilities. While the end results were mixed to say the least, Activision ports Downhill Jam to the PS2, and the results here aren’t much better. Contrary to previous games in the long running series, Downhill Jam does just what it’s title implies. The trick heavy skate park based gameplay is transformed into that of a downhill racing game. Naturally you can play as legendary skater Tony Hawk, who is the only real life skater in the game for some odd reason. You can still perform a nice amount of tricks and combos while you race, but really, what’s the point when the gameplay itself is so stale? The tricks are super easy to pull off, but are very repetitive to say the least. Not to mention that the race tracks themselves are blandly designed to boot and offer up some confusion in terms of “where the heck am I going?”. The worst factor of Downhill Jam is undoubtedly the muddy graphics and textures and the unstable frame rate that make the Wii graphics look mouth watering. There are some pluses here though, albeit there are few. Like the previous Tony Hawk games, Downhill Jam offers up a nice soundtrack, and the game is easy to pick up and play for newcomers to the series, but like the last few games to come from the franchise, there isn’t anything we haven’t seen before, and seen done much better at that. All in all, Downhill Jam may be worth a look for fans of the series that don’t own a Wii, but don’t expect much at all from it.

    Fighting Styles
Success in mixed martial arts in real-life is all about a fighter’s ability to combine different aspects of various fighting disciplines to his advantage when inside the octagon and that is exactly what players will need to do in UFC 2009 Undisputed. Ideally these combination of disciplines are used to devastate an opponent, but if used wisely they can also be used to frustrate and neutralize the power and tactics of a stronger fighter who can’t be knocked out. UFC 2009 Undisputed features the six international fighting disciplines that are used in the UFC. These six fall into two categories, striking disciplines and grappling disciplines, and include:

    Striking disciplines:
Western Boxing (Boxing) – Boxing relies on complex foot maneuvers and quick jabs to mount a powerful offense.
Kick Boxing – Kick Boxing is a fighting style that integrates boxing punches with a variety of martial art kicks.
Muay Thai – Also known as ‘Thai Boxing,’ Muay Thai utilizes elbows, knees and low kicks often from the clinch position.

    Grappling disciplines:

Wrestling – The oldest sport known to man, Wrestling consists of taking down your opponent using hand-to-hand maneuvers.
Judo – Judo is a Japanese martial art that emphasizes on throwing your opponent and immobilizing him with grappling moves.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu – Derived from Kodokan Judo, BJJ utilizes joint locks and choke holds to allow smaller/weaker combatants to defeat bigger, stronger opponents.

    Gameplay
Gameplay in UFC 2009 Undisputed is designed to be the most authentic representation of mixed martial arts in a video game to date. To do this the game utilizes the six fighting disciplines to help the player develop actual strategies used by UFC fighters. Each playable fighter is initially assigned one striking and one grapple martial discipline. The fighting strategies that come out of these make up a player’s ’standing game’ and ‘ground game,’ with the standing game reflecting your striking discipline and ground game your grapple.

The standing game consists of utilizing the precision of your striking style to breakdown your opponent with quick combos, kicks from the perimeter or knees and elbows in the clinch. After these have done their work you unleash your power and go for the knockout. The ground game on the other hand consists of knocking your opponent off balance, taking him down to the canvas and there going for a tap out via submission hold or securing dominant position and pounding away until it is over. In developing a ground game players will learn to use UFC 2009 Undisputed’s ‘ultimate fighting control’ game mechanic. This innovative control system initiated through the right stick, allows players to transition their fighter while on the ground from one advantageous physical position to the next. This control is available to both combatants while on the ground, so as players seek for optimal positioning they must also beware of counter moves. Regardless which strategy is preferred, players must acknowledge both. Although players may feasibly survive and even progress for a while using just the standing or ground game, sooner or later the in-game competition will demand the development of both.

    Roster of Fighters
A big part of UFC 2009 Undisputed’s dedication to realism is its extensive list of playable UFC fighters and other in-game characters familiar from the real-life world of Ultimate Fighting.
